Building Controls - Economic Benefits
There are many Economic Benefits to Smart Building Technologies. These benefits generally fall into one of two categories: GREEN (Environmental) Benefits, and Cost Benefits.
GREEN BENEFITS
Green Benefits (also called "Eco-friendly" or "Environmentally friendly" benefits) are those that are
derived by optimizing the HVAC and mechanical systems to reduce harmful emissions and decrease the impact
on the surrounding areas. Further savings can be realized with properly tuned HVAC systems that use less
power/fuel, and those savings can be additionally enhanced by using manual over-rides (from on-site or from
remote controlling stations) to respond to specific requirements on an infrequent basis.
COST BENEFITS
Security monitoring systems can significantly reduce the number of security personnel required during
slow periods for the building. Remote building controls can reduce the response times of building operators
in responding to unusual circumstances within the building, as well as reduce "travel times" by using
remotely controllable systems. If multiple buildings are being managed out of a single command center, the savings
in terms of building operator personnel can grow rapidly as the number of managed buildings increases.
