Building Controls - Premises Design
DEXAGON works with the owners, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders
to create a flexible, robust management network. This network provides the ability to
connect many different types of devices to a central control computer. The intial design
of the management network is crucial to the successful deployment of "Building Control" services.
We have designed outdoor, buried fiber networks, as well as indoor fiber and
copper networks. These networks can carry IP (typically on Ethernet copper), voice (typically VoIP or
proprietary PBX digital), RS232/RS485 (for device control), dry contact, and other types of communications.
We can help specify the central control computer, or work with others to create an RFP and assess
the responses. We work closely with IT departments to integrate the additional hardware
and software with existing equipment.
We have designed on-site monitoring/security rooms as well as off-site command centers. These rooms need to
have robust, redundant access to the primary systems, and the room architecture itself needs to be optimized
for the functions and people that it serves.
We can provide assistance or take the lead role in defining security and operational procedures and protocols
to assure that the building's "smarts" are utilized properly, secure from tampering, and fulfill the requirements
of the building owner and the tenants.
